1. Who we are

These terms apply to services provided by TSC Skin Limited (company number 16983631), registered at c/o Rus & Co, 1192 Stratford Road, Hall Green, Birmingham, West Midlands B28 8AB ("we", "us", "the practice").

Clinic locations. Consultations take place at Midland Skin (Birmingham), BUPA Health Centre (Solihull) and St Michael's Clinic (Shrewsbury). Each clinic is a separate organisation with its own terms, facility charges and cancellation rules, which apply alongside these terms. Where the two differ on a matter relating to the premises or its facilities, the clinic's terms apply.

2. Our services

We provide consultant-led dermatology, laser and aesthetic care, including diagnosis and treatment of skin, hair and nail conditions, skin cancer screening and mole checks, minor skin surgery, laser treatment and related services.

We will discuss the proposed treatment with you, including its likely benefits, material risks, alternatives and expected outcome, before you decide whether to proceed. No outcome can be guaranteed. Individual results vary, and some conditions require more than one course of treatment or ongoing management.

Where a condition falls outside our scope, or where another specialist is better placed to help, we will tell you and, where appropriate, refer you on.

3. Appointments

Booking

Enquiries may be made through this website or by email. An appointment is confirmed only once we have written to you to confirm the date, time and location.

Appointments are consultant-led. If Dr Chohan is unexpectedly unable to attend, we will contact you to rearrange at the earliest opportunity.

Patients under 18

Patients under 16 must be accompanied by a person with parental responsibility, who consents on their behalf unless the young person is assessed as competent to consent for themselves. Patients aged 16 and 17 may attend alone but are encouraged to bring a supportive adult. For any procedure on a patient under 18, an accompanying adult must be present.

Cancellations and missed appointments

If you need to change or cancel an appointment, please let us know by 10am on the previous working day.

Late arrival

Please arrive in good time for your appointment. Clinics run to a schedule and a late start affects the patients seen after you.

If you arrive late we will do our best to see you, but the appointment may need to be shortened so that it finishes at the planned time. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we may be unable to see you and the appointment may be treated as a missed appointment, with the prepayment or deposit retained.

4. Fees and payment

Fees differ between clinics and are set by each clinic. Full fees are published on the Midland Skin website, and partial fees are published on the St Michael's Clinic and Bupa Dermatology Solihull (also known as Stratum Solihull) websites. Fees are subject to change and are individualised to each case.

We will confirm the cost that applies to you before your appointment, and will tell you the cost of any procedure or further treatment before it goes ahead.

The consultation fee covers the consultation itself. Procedures, laser treatment, biopsies, pathology and follow-up appointments are charged separately, and we will tell you the cost before proceeding. Where a treatment plan requires several sessions, we will set out the expected total.

Pathology, laboratory and histology charges are levied by the provider and may be billed to you separately.

When and how payment is taken depends on the clinic at which you are seen, and their policies apply. At Midland Skin, all appointments are paid for in advance. Please refer to the policy of the clinic you are attending for its payment terms and the methods it accepts. Facility fees charged by that clinic are payable to it under its own terms.

Where an account is payable to us directly and remains unpaid, we may charge interest at 4% a year above the Bank of England base rate, accruing daily from the date payment fell due, together with reasonable costs of recovery, and we may instruct a debt recovery agency. We will always contact you before taking any such step.

Private medical insurance

If you are using insurance, please obtain authorisation from your insurer before your appointment and bring your policy and authorisation numbers.

You remain personally responsible for the account. If your insurer declines or only partly settles the invoice — for example because of an excess, a policy exclusion, an expired authorisation or an unmet limit — the balance is payable by you.

Dr Chohan is currently recognised by Bupa, as a Bupa Platinum consultant. Recognition and fee arrangements vary by insurer and can change; please check with us before your appointment if you are insured with another provider.

5. Consent

Nothing will be done to you without your consent. We will explain what is proposed, why, what it involves, its material risks and any reasonable alternatives, including doing nothing.

Written consent is obtained for procedures and laser treatment. You may withdraw your consent at any time, including during a procedure where it is safe to stop.

For elective aesthetic procedures we apply a cooling-off period of at least two weeks between your consultation and treatment. This gives you time to consider what has been discussed, read any written information, and ask further questions before deciding. You are under no obligation to proceed, and may change your mind at any point.

6. Photography

Clinical photographs are often an essential part of dermatological care — for monitoring moles, recording a rash, or assessing response to treatment. These are taken with your consent, stored securely and form part of your medical record.

Second opinions and discussion with colleagues

Dermatology frequently benefits from more than one expert eye. As part of your care, and in common with normal medical practice, we may share your clinical photographs and relevant parts of your medical record with other clinicians in order to seek a second opinion, discuss a diagnosis, or plan your treatment. This may include dermatology colleagues, pathologists, plastic or dermatological surgeons, and multidisciplinary team meetings where a lesion is being assessed.

Anyone with whom your information is shared for this purpose is bound by the same duty of confidentiality that we owe you. Information is shared securely and limited to what is needed for the opinion being sought. If you would prefer that your images or record were not shared in this way, please tell us; we will respect that, and will explain if it limits what we are able to advise.

Teaching, publication and marketing

We will always ask separately, in writing, before using any image for teaching, research, publication or marketing, and you are free to refuse. Refusing does not affect your care in any way, and you may withdraw that permission later, though we may not be able to recall material that has already been published.

Images used for these purposes are anonymised wherever possible, and identifiable images — for example those including the face — are never used without your specific written consent.

7. Prescriptions and aftercare

Where medication is prescribed, we will explain how to take it, what to expect and what to look out for. Please follow the aftercare instructions given to you; the outcome of many treatments depends on it.

If you experience an unexpected reaction or complication, contact us as soon as possible on the details given to you, or contact the clinic where you were treated.

We do not provide an out-of-hours or emergency service. Outside clinic hours, please contact your GP, call NHS 111, or in an emergency — for example severe breathing difficulty, swelling of the face or throat, heavy bleeding, or rapidly spreading infection — call 999 or attend your nearest A&E department. Please tell us afterwards so that we can record what happened and arrange review.

Repeat prescriptions are issued at our discretion and normally only after review. Where a prescription is issued outside of a review appointment, a prescription fee applies. We will tell you the fee before the prescription is issued.

Some medications require monitoring, such as blood tests, before a further prescription can safely be issued. Where that applies we will tell you what is needed.

8. Results and follow-up

Turnaround times for biopsy and laboratory results vary depending on the test and the laboratory involved. We will tell you at your consultation when to expect your results and how they will be communicated. Urgent or significant results are communicated by telephone.

With your agreement, we will normally write to your GP to keep them informed. Where a result suggests an urgent problem, we may need to inform your GP or another clinician even if you would prefer we did not, in order to keep you safe.

9. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your care, please tell us. Most concerns are resolved quickly and directly.

10. Your responsibilities

To help us care for you safely, please:

11. Website content

Information on this website is general and is not a substitute for a consultation. Reading it does not create a doctor–patient relationship. If you have a symptom that concerns you, please seek advice rather than relying on anything published here.

Content, images and branding on this site belong to TSC Skin Limited or are used under licence, and may not be reproduced without permission.

12. Liability

We maintain professional medical indemnity cover appropriate to our practice, as required by the General Medical Council. Details are available on request.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of the clinics at which consultations take place, in respect of their own premises, equipment, staff and services.

13. Privacy

How we handle your information is set out in our privacy notice, which forms part of these terms.

14. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published here at the date of your appointment. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
